Krupskaya

Krupskaya is a grindcore group from Staffordshire, UK, formed in 2005. The band emerges from earlier local hardcore and grindcore acts and stays active from its formation through the present.

Line-up and history

The original line-up includes Alex on vocals, Tim on guitar, Ed on drums and John on bass guitar. Alex previously plays in FHP and Kzzch, Tim comes from Kzzch, and Ed has played in FHP and Skincheese. Shortly after the group’s first European tour in 2008, JJ leaves and the bass role is shared by Stacey and then Skulda, who is also associated with Sheva Yoga, Prugelknabe and Vocatio Interna. Ed leaves in 2009 and is replaced by Mark, formerly of Nervaxis, before the band goes on hiatus in 2010.

When Ed returns to the UK in 2013, Matt, from After The Last Sky, FHP and Kzzch, joins to complete a new line-up. The listed later membership also includes Liam Riley on guitar from 2017 and Mike Foxall on guitar from 2019. Ed Edwards is listed on drums from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 onward, Matt Doughty on bass and vocals from 2013 onward, Tim on guitar until 2016, John on bass until 2008, Stacey on bass until 2009, Mark on drums until 2010, and Skulda on bass until 2010.

Recordings and style

Since 2005, Krupskaya tours in 23 countries and releases more than 70 tracks across 2 CDs, 4 records and various compilations. Their music is described as intensely violent in delivery and conviction, with later recordings moving towards a more technical approach without losing intensity.
