Kowton is the performance name of Joe Cowton, also known as Narcossist. He is from the United Kingdom, grew up in the Lake District, and is based in Bristol.

His music draws on the rhythmic energy of garage, the stripped-back force of grime, and the depth and intensity of techno. It is also associated with dubstep, house, future garage and bass.

Kowton’s tracks receive support from Mary-Anne Hobbs, Kode 9, Grevious Angel, Blackdown, Ben UFO, Selector Dub-U and Rob Booth. Among the releases associated with him are the 12-inch Metronome on Nakedlunch Recordings and Sunblind on the Manchester label Mindset. Nakedlunch Recordings is also described as the home of Breakage and TRG.
