Koshka
Koshka is a Glasgow-based group active since 2001, formed by Lev Atlas, Nigel Clark and Oleg Ponomarev. The trio first perform under the name Kesha and later use Koshka as their name. Their music develops from a shared interest in classical music, folk and hotclub styles, and they are identified as a world music act with violin at the centre of their sound.
The group builds its reputation through small live performances in Glasgow, including shows at Russian Café Cossachok, after each member has already played to large audiences in earlier parts of their careers. Koshka records sessions for BBC Radio and releases two albums: Kesha, which receives critical success, and Shara.
