Koffin Kats
Koffin Kats are a psychobilly trio from Detroit, United States, formed in 2003. The group combines rockabilly swing with punk energy and horror imagery, and it sits within the psychobilly scene.
Formation and lineup
The band is formed by lead singer and upright bassist Vic Victor and guitarist/vocalist Tommy Koffin, both of whom come out of the Motor City punk scene. The group has a changing drum chair rather than a fixed long-term drummer. Drummers associated with the band include Damian Detroit, who plays with the group from 2003 to 2005; Katch, also known as “the other” Goat; and E-Ball Walls, who plays in 2003 and rejoins in 2007.
Recordings and activity
Koffin Kats release their self-titled debut album in 2004 and tour in support of it. They follow it with Inhumane in 2005, Straying From the Pack in 2006, and Drunk in the Daylight in 2008. They then release Forever for Hire in 2009. After Tommy Koffin leaves in early 2010, EZ Ian replaces him and the band continues working on another album. The group maintains a busy touring schedule, with frequent shows on the West Coast and nearer to home.
