Knocking Ghost is a Swedish metal band from Linköping, active since 2008. The group is linked with doom metal, hard rock, heavy metal, metal, occult rock and pop rock, and it releases music on Polydor Sweden.

The band’s members are Tobias Forge, A Ghoul Writer, Nameless Ghoul and Megan X Thomas.

Earlier project and development

The act begins as a remix collective called Starshapes. In that form, it works on remixes for Bastille and Erasure. It then turns to making original material in late 2012.

Recorded output

The band’s debut EP, Distractions, appears in early 2013. Its singles receive play on international indie playlists, blogs and radio stations. Another single, Soul Aspiration, is released in December 2013 and is mixed by Gareth Jones, whose credits include Depeche Mode, Erasure, Liars, Maps and Grizzly Bear.

Musical style

The group describes its music as combining contemporary dance-floor music with late 1970s and early 1980s pop, alongside other influences gathered in between, with an emphasis on a brooding feel and a contrasting sense of hope.
