Klingonz

Klingonz are a psychobilly group from London, United Kingdom, active since 1988. They are associated with psychobilly, rockabilly, horror punk, punk and slap bass, and their music also draws on punkabilly and garage punk.

Formation and early releases

The band forms in 1988 and opens its recorded history with UURRRRNCHK, described as a debut alien-themed release. At that time the line-up is Titch on vocals, Doyley on guitar, Strangy on bass and Mocker on drums. Their early touring takes them across Europe and on to Japan.

Line-up changes and later recordings

After their second album, Blurb, Eddie joins on bass. Strangy later leaves to join the Numbskulls, which become Karloff, a rock'n'roll horror group fronted by Ash, Strangy's brother. Klingonz continue and record four more albums, along with tracks for compilation albums. Mick of the Phantom Rockers then joins on guitar.

In 1998 the line-up becomes Looper, and the group records the EP The Mad are Sane, which is described as a sixties garage punk recording.

Related projects

Doyley and Strangy later form Celtic Bones, a three-piece punk 'n' roll band with Skum on drums. That group records the four-track EP Times up and the 11-track CD Who Dares Gins.

Activity after 2001

The band continues after a time-rift story device brings the Klingonz back to Earth in 2001. The group remains active and continues to perform.
