Kitty The Lion

Kitty The Lion is an indie rock group from Seattle, United States, active since 1995. The project begins as the singer-songwriter Anna Meldrum, who is brought up at the seaside on a diet of folk and pop. In its early form, the act performs as a solo acoustic project at open mics and small venues in Glasgow.

History

As a solo performer, Anna Meldrum plays a series of gigs in Glasgow and appears at Hydro Connect Festival, as well as supporting Duke Special on a number of shows. Those performances lead to a network of other musicians, and in 2009 the project expands into a full band.

The later line-up includes Joe Rattray on upright bass, Nick Roan on drums, Sorren Maclean on guitar, and Callum Wiseman on mandolin. The group’s sound is described as folk-tinged, and the artist name shifts from the solo identity to the band form Kitty The Lion.
