King Kong

King Kong is a rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It forms in 1989 and remains active. The group’s line-up includes Ethan Buckler, David Grubbs, John McEntire and David Pajo, and it is associated with American alternative rock.

The band is formed by Ethan Buckler, who has previously played bass in Slint. For many years, King Kong’s core line-up consists of Buckler with Willie McClean on bass and Ray Rizzo on drums. Across its history, the group also includes Todd Hildreth on keys, Suki Anderson and Amy Greenwood on additional vocals, Andy Hurt on percussion, and Dave Pajo on drums.

King Kong releases concept albums and returns after a four-year hiatus with The Big Bang, which concerns space travel and also has an underlying theme of sexual intercourse. Drag City releases Buncha Beans in March 2007.
