King Hammond

King Hammond is the recording alias of Nicky Welsh, a British ska artist from the United Kingdom. He is associated with ska, two-tone, second-wave ska, psychedelic and early reggae.

Welsh plays in Bad Manners and Busters Allstars, and launches King Hammond in 1988 with the track “King Hammond Shuffle”, which appears on the compilation Ska For Ska's Sake. The project is initially intended as a one-off, but the response to the track leads to a full album, Revolution 70.

By 1991, Welsh is playing in the re-formed The Selecter. He also forms Big Five and Skaville UK, and later plays in Three Men & Black. He then returns to King Hammond for a series of albums during the 2000s.
