Kinasis

Kinasis are a technical extreme metal group from Somerset, formed in 2009 by former members of several Somerset and Wiltshire metal bands, including Downfall, Permanent Bullet Trip, Sharp End First and Hatekills. Their sound draws on contemporary metal, thrash metal, death metal and grindcore, and uses dynamic volume shifts, tempo changes and odd-time signatures to create a technical, progressive edge.

Style and approach

The band describes itself as an “Exogeneous” metal entity, using the term to suggest that it operates outside the trends of other metal subgenres and does not follow mainstream movement within the scene. This idea is part of the band’s identity and reflects its emphasis on independence and self-direction.

Live activity and lineup

Kinasis makes its debut live appearance in Devizes on 30 March 2010, headlining a show above Exeter punk band Ratattack. The group’s line-up is Tom Harris on vocals, Marcus Burns on 7-string guitar and additional vocals, Tom Sellick on 7-string guitar and vocals, Tristan Winchester on bass, and Jason Trunks on drums.
