Kin

Kin is a Swedish electronic and indie project associated with Stockholm. It is also linked to the artist Sara Solblomma, who records under the name kiN, and whose work combines electronica, alternative and pop.

Background

Under the kiN name, Sara Solblomma releases music from Stockholm, Sweden. Her early output includes a first record, SARA, released in 1997 on Some Pearls/Slask Records and produced by Håkan Folkesson, also known as Paramaterial. That release includes industrial elements, along with electronic ambience, dance music and rhythm-driven passages.

Before that album, she appears on the Swedish vegan compilation Defenders of the Oppressed Breed in 1997 and issues a promotional EP, Liberation, containing six tracks from Sara. She also records a demo CD, Mushroom Airport, and circulates promotional material online through the early MP3.com platform.

Albums and releases

kiN's debut album The Zombic Hunch appears in 2005. A later album, Those Bombs Were Made for Us, is released digitally in August and on CD in October 2009. Between those two albums, kiN also releases four singles and an EP in Swedish.

Live performance

Sara Solblomma performs live at Hultsfredsfestivalen on the poetry stage in 1993. She later appears at Arvikafestivalen in 1998 after a planned performance the previous year is cancelled for technical reasons. She also plays at a small alternative-music festival in Falun, and a bootleg live recording from that show circulates on tape under the title live på AkA Alternativ Torsdag.

Other Kin act

There is also a separate project called Kin that begins as a solo project in Manchester, UK, and later becomes a full band after singer and guitarist Kim Foster moves to Groningen in 2011 and starts working with members of Vox Von Braun and the Swains. That line-up includes K Foster, Jouke van der Krieke, Maike Doornebosch and Peter Blokzijl.
