Kim Gordon, who was born April 28th, 1953 in Rochester, NY, is chiefly known as the bass player and singer (along with Lee Ranaldo and her then partner Thurston Moore) for Sonic Youth.
She has taken part in many experimental side-projects, notably with DJ Olive and in the noise-pop girl band Free Kitten. She is currently in a duo called Body/Head.
She is also involved in the field of contemporary art, devising audiovisual installations.
