Kill Shelter

Kill Shelter is a United Kingdom-based art rock group active since 2017. It is identified with Edinburgh-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and remixer Pete Burns, whose work blends post-punk, darkwave and contemporary electronica with heavily processed guitars.

Style and approach

The project’s music draws on post-punk, darkwave and electronic production, and is described in terms of dense and emotive sound. Its live material is built around improvisation and dub jam structures, with performances presented as a central part of the project’s output.

Releases

Kill Shelter releases include Damage (2018), A Haunted Place, a collaboration with Antipole, and Asylum (2022). These are issued on vinyl and CD.

Associated material

Another description of the project links Kill Shelter with Punchblade and Matt Deimos, and traces their influences to dance, acid, house, metal, garage and drum and bass. In that account, the act focuses on live, aggressive dubstep made largely through live dub jams.
