Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is a US fusion band that has been active since 1979. The name is used by several different ensembles, but the most prominent are outlined below.

Improvisational jazz project

One Kilimanjaro is an improvisational jazz project formed by former members of As Tall As Lions. Its line-up includes Saen Fitzgerald on guitar, Julio Tavarez on bass, Cliff Sarcona on drums, and Duncan Toothill on trumpet and keys. This group operates as a collaborative instrumental project.

Other projects using the name

Another Kilimanjaro is a four-piece thrashcore band from Syracuse, New York. A third version is a large Philadelphia-based collective of around two dozen musicians, brought together to create soundtracks for Jonathan Olshefski’s photo essays about disenfranchised communities in Philadelphia, under the title Whispers In the Storm. That group includes members of several Philadelphia bands, along with other collaborators working across music, video art, collaborative installations, and pot-luck performances.

A Danish duo also uses the name Kilimanjaro. This version is a post-dubstep project formed by Patrick Bech-Madsen and Aron Lank Jensen.
