Kibir La Amlak

Kibir La Amlak is a roots and culture sound system playing conscious reggae music. The name is an Amharic term meaning “Glory to JAH”. The project begins as a two-box youth sound in the 1990s, playing at house parties and community centres, and it keeps a homegrown approach, with its tweeter boxes, amp racks and dubplates all hand built.

JT and Stamina Li first link up in 2005 under the 12 Jewels camp with Aslan, forming Horns of Jericho Sound System. In 2007, JT and Stamina set up a new sound called Teshuvah Hi-Fi. In 2008, after a period of reflection and meditation, the sound takes the name Kibir La Amlak.

Alongside the sound system, Kibir La Amlak also runs a studio and a record label to promote and release its work.
