Kelp

Kelp is a UK electronic project that begins in 1998 and works across ambient, IDM, techno and experimental music. Its sound is described as drawing on early acid and techno, with links to labels such as B12, A.R.T., Djax-Up-Beats, +8 Records, Eevolute, Rephlex and Rising High Records. The project appears to involve more than one contributor, with collaboration as part of its output.

Kelp issues music through Myuzyk Records and Balkan Vinyl. Alongside this UK project, the name also refers to a Fukuoka-based band with a colder, wide-ranging instrumental style. That group is made up of Tomohide Ishibashi on piano and vocals, Takeshi Yamamoto on bass, and Sohta Setoguchi on drums and trumpet. Its music is associated with progressive rock, jazz, baroque music, ambient music and related instrumental forms.
