Kedr Livanskiy

Kedr Livanskiy is the stage name of Yana Kedrina, a Russian electronic music producer and singer from Moscow. Born in 1990, she begins as a former punk musician and develops her style in Moscow’s isolated electronic scene, drawing on Western influences.

She is a member of the DIY collective Johns' Kingdom, which presents itself as part of a new underground Russian scene focused on building an inclusive community and using internet resources to form international connections. She is also associated with Kosaya Gora.

Recordings and style

Her debut EP, January Sun, is released on 2MR, the imprint run by Mike Simonetti and Mike Sniper, after they discover her songs on SoundCloud. Her music is described as minimalist and warm, despite its austere setting, and is compared with artists such as Hype Williams, Laurel Halo and pre-Art Angels Grimes.
