Kathleen MacInnes, known in Scottish Gaelic as Caitlin Nic Aonghais, is a Scottish singer, television presenter and actress who performs mainly in Scottish Gaelic. She is born in 1969 and is from Eilean Siar and Glasgow. She grows up on South Uist in the Western Isles in a Gaelic-speaking home.
Broadcasting and screen work
MacInnes presents the Scottish Gaelic arts and culture programme Tacsi, which wins a Scottish BAFTA award. She also appears in the Gaelic soap Machair and in BBC comedy programmes including Ran Dan and PC Alasdair Stewart. Her screen credits include the film Interrogation of a Highland Lassie, for which she performs two songs, as well as children's television programmes. She also provides regular voice-over work for BBC cartoons and for Animations From Around The World for Mor Media.
Stage and live performance
Her stage work includes a role in The Well, a production from the creators of Riverdance, staged for Dublin Theatre. She also performs in a number of plays for Tosg and at music festivals.
Music appearances and collaborations
MacInnes is a regular guest on music programmes including MacTV's Bard nan Orain, BBC's award-winning series Aig Cridhe ar Ciuil, and Mike Alexander's Columba Sessions. In these programmes she performs alongside leading Scottish and Irish singers and musicians. She also takes part in the concert Flower of The West, a tribute to Runrig brothers Calum and Ruaraidh MacDonald, and performs with Blas as support singer to Van Morrison. She is also developing a show with Cathy-Ann MacPhee called There's No V in Gaelic.
