Kate Stephenson

Kate Stephenson is an American singer-songwriter from Illinois, based in Chicago, Illinois and Orange County, California. Born in Naples, Florida, she grows up in a musical family: one parent is a composer and trumpet player, and the other is a violinist.

She studies violin, piano, cello and voice as a child. She begins writing songs with her sister, Maddie Stephenson, when Kate is eight and Maddie is ten. Their first song, “St. Anthony”, comes out of a search for their favourite Lego character, Ricky. The sisters perform together at several gigs, and when her older sister leaves for college, Kate continues making music on her own.

While at high school, she starts writing and releasing singles. Her first solo album, Lonely, goes live on her last day at home in Illinois before she leaves for college. She also releases a series of singles in 2024.
