KataCombs is the performance name of Katerina Kiranos, a folk-rock artist born in Miami to a Spanish mother and Greek father. Her early life is shaped by moving between cultures, and music remains a constant thread throughout that period.

Background and early development

She begins piano lessons as a child, then spends much of her teenage years writing and recording in a bedroom studio. Over time she collects a large number of songs without releasing them. She later takes a career detour, but continues playing music whenever she can and keeps developing her songwriting.

Musical activity

Before adopting the KataCombs name, she plays keys in several bands and also performs at open mics. She prefers working alone and building dark, dramatic, ethereal melodies. Her work draws on folk, folk rock and rock.

Debut release

KataCombs begins sharing this material with a small body of songs that reflects different periods of her life and a range of influences. Her debut EP, You Will Not, presents songs tied to specific places and times in her life and moves through themes of self-discovery, with material that crosses geographical and stylistic boundaries.
