Kassem Mosse is the solo project of Gunnar Wendel, an electronic musician from Germany who is based in Leipzig. Active since 2006, the project works in the area between ambient techno, deep house, minimal and techno.

Style and sound

Mosse is associated with a slow, sparse approach to club music, with tracks often described as falling between traditional techno and house rather than fitting either form neatly. The music is also linked to ambient techno and minimal techno, and is noted for a time-stretched, subdued character.

Releases and labels

He builds his reputation through a series of singles on Mikrodisko and Workshop. These releases establish the distinctive sound of the project and place it within the European minimal and techno underground.

Collaborations

Alongside his solo work, Mosse is involved in Chilling to Do, an improvised project with fellow Mikrodisko artist Mix Mup. This project focuses more directly on the ambient side of his work.

Context

His music is compared with artists such as Theo Parrish and Basic Channel, reflecting both its deep house and minimal techno connections and its emphasis on texture, space and atmosphere.
