Karenn

Karenn is a techno duo made up of Blawan and Pariah. Working together under this name, they release music on their Works the Long Nights label with SHEWORKS001, a set of three tracks built around bass-heavy, swung techno.

Release profile

The trio of tracks on SHEWORKS001 shows different sides of the pair’s sound. “Chaste Down” is a garage-techno piece that sits between Burial and Marcel Dettmann in style. “Auflen Whip” moves into a heavier, jack-driven tech-house form, with sharp snares and an industrial edge. “Limewash (Barrelled)” closes the release with hollowed kicks, relentless percussion and shifting, gargling synth lines.

Style

The project is associated with techno, industrial techno, electronic music, dubstep and dub techno, with a strong focus on heavy bass, swinging rhythms and a rough, mechanical feel.
