Kane

Kane is a Dutch pop rock band from Den Haag, active since 1998. The group’s original line-up includes Dinand Woesthoff on lead vocals and Dennis van Leeuwen on guitar and vocals. Martijn Bosman joins on drums in 2002 after the previous drummer leaves.

Style and career

The band’s music is described as soft guitar rock and pop rock. They become one of the best-selling bands in the Netherlands and, after Golden Earring, one of the country’s most successful rock acts. Their live reputation is strong, with performances at major Dutch festivals including Pinkpop and Parkpop.

Performances and wider recognition

Outside the Netherlands, Kane also plays at Marktrock in Belgium, Expo 2000 in Germany, Heineken Jammin’ in Italy, SuperBock-SuperRock in Portugal and Rock Werchter in Belgium. They also support Bon Jovi, tour with Simple Minds, and play duo shows in Scandinavia and Germany with The Calling. A special performance is also given in Curaçao.

Albums

The band’s albums include As Long as You Want This (1999), So Glad You Made It (2001), What If (2003), February (2004), Fearless (2005), Everything You Want (2008) and No Surrender (2009). The latter marks a shift in style towards more electronic influences, including on the track “Catwalk Criminal”.
