Kaleko Urdangak

Kaleko Urdangak is an oi group from Bergara in the Basque Country. The band forms in 2010 and remains active. Its music sits within oi, skinhead rock and roll and punk, and it performs in euskara, Spanish and English.

Formation and line-up

The group starts as a joke among members of the oi-punk radio show Kaleko Mobida. Moto plays bass, Ekaitz plays drums and Biru plays guitar while sharing vocals. After hearing the result, the band takes the project more seriously and brings in Beñat as singer.

Debut release

The band records its first album, Eman Bai!, at Northern Drunkens studio with Aitor “Apurtu” working as technician. The record contains seven skinhead rock and roll tracks. It is issued on LP and CD by Erronka Records, Teletetxo Records, Skizo Diskak, Petruska Records and Riot Kids.

Themes and name

Its songs deal with Basque culture, violence, drinking, history and personal matters. The name Kaleko Urdangak is explained as a reference to street “bitches” and also to a female pig, and it also works as a joke linked to the name Kaleko Mobida, meaning “movement of the street”.

Live activity

After rehearsing through the summer, the band plays shows in Gipuzkoa and its release is distributed in the Basque Country as well as in Madrid and Barcelona.
