Kaleida

Kaleida is a London-based electronic group formed in 2013. The act centres on Cicely Goulder, and it originally consists of a duo with Christina Wood on vocals and Goulder on synths. The pair meet through a mutual friend online and begin making demos soon afterwards.

Sound and influences

Kaleida’s music is described as a form of breathy synth pop with indie and dream-pop elements. The group draws on the work of female singers and artists including Kate Bush, Björk and Loretta Lynn, and on contemporary producers such as the Haxan Cloak and Helena Hauff.

Releases and collaborations

The duo signs to Lex Records and releases its debut EP, Think, in 2015. The title track also appears in the film John Wick, which helps raise the group’s profile. Later in 2015, Kaleida tours Europe with Róisín Murphy. A second EP, Detune, follows in 2016.

The group continues recording and touring while working towards its debut album. Its first single from that album, Echo Saw You, appears in 2017, followed by a cover of Nena’s 99 Luftballons. The debut album, Tear the Roots, is then released later that year.
