Kai Welch is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the United States, based in Nashville, Tennessee. He works in singer-songwriter and indie rock settings and also tours as a performer.

Tommy and the Whale

In 2007, he forms Tommy and the Whale with Tommy Hans, Jamie Dick, Thomas Samuel and Nathan Hughes. The group releases its debut album, The Art House Sessions, in 2007, followed by a second CD, Shot for the Moon, in 2008.

Solo work and collaborations

Welch also tours with Abigail Washburn and collaborates with her on her 2011 album City of Refuge. His debut solo album, Send it Down, is released in 2011.
