Kaddish

Kaddish are a screamo band from Dundee, United Kingdom. They form in 2001 and are active from 2007 to the present. The group is associated with screamo, emo violence and real screamo, and is part of the Scottish and British underground hardcore scene.

Line-up

The current line-up consists of Chris Mylles on drums, John Cumiskey on bass, and Dom Smith on guitar and vocals. Mark is the founding lead vocalist and leaves the band in 2010, after which Dom takes over lead vocal duties and the group continues as a trio.

Recordings

Kaddish record their first demo in the summer of 2002 at engineer Robin Sutherland’s home. They follow this with the 7 Songs EP in 2006 and a split 7-inch with Battle of Wolf 359 in 2008. Their self-titled debut album is released in 2010 through Parade of Spectres, Autumn Jams, Internationale and This One’s for the Crew.

The second album, Thick Letters To Friends, is recorded in 2011 and released in 2014 on Make-That-A-Take Records, Black Lake Records, The Ghost Is Clear Records and Boslevan Records. In 2013 they release a four-way split LP with Polina, Bonehouse and Todos Caerán. Their third album, What World Was Still?, is released in 2018 on Make-That-A-Take Records and Black Lake Records.

Later activity

The band’s first demos are reissued on cassette in 2020 as Two Demos, through Make-That-A-Take Records, Les Disques Rabat-Joie and Missed Out Records. The band announces recording for a fourth album in late 2025, completes recording in June, and plans a release in autumn 2026 via This is Our Battlefield.
