Justin Sullivan

Justin Sullivan is a UK singer-songwriter from Jordans, Buckinghamshire. He is best known as the frontman of New Model Army, where his solo work is sometimes less widely noted. His background includes being born to Quaker parents.

Solo work and New Model Army material

Sullivan’s solo recordings place greater emphasis on his voice than the band’s material, with acoustic guitar and string arrangements often supporting the songs. He debuts as a solo artist with Navigating By The Stars in 2003. His songs include “Tales of the Road”, “White Lights”, “Lullaby” and “Navigating by The Stars”. These tracks are remixed by Christoph H. Mueller of Gotan Project and added to the pre-release soundtrack of Exilée, a thriller by Nemo Sandman with Joolz Denby.

Alongside his regular New Model Army albums, he also releases two live albums using New Model Army material with members of the band. Big Guitars in Little Europe is recorded with Dave Blomberg in 1995, and Tales Of The Road is recorded with Dean White and Michael Dean in 2004 under the name Justin Sullivan & Friends.

Collaborations and side projects

He is an active member of Red Sky Coven, which he forms with Brett Selby, Rev Hammer and Joolz. With Joolz, he also collaborates with Robert Heaton on Hex, an album that sets music to Joolz Denby’s lyrics.
