Justice
Justice is a French electronic music duo from Paris, made up of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. Active since 2003, the group releases music on Ed Banger Records and works across dance, electro, electro house, electro-disco, electronic and french electro, with a sound and image that also draw on rock and disco influences.
Albums and releases
The duo’s debut album, Cross, is released in 2007 and attracts critical attention. It is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album, reaches number 15 in Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of 2007 and number 18 in Blender’s 25 Best Albums of 2007, and is also nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize, losing to Feist’s The Reminder. Their second album, Audio, Video, Disco, follows in 2011, after the single “Civilization”. The live album Access All Arenas appears in 2013, and the third studio album, Woman, is released in 2016.
In 2024, Justice releases Hyperdrama, their fourth album. The record is nominated for the 67th Grammy Awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
Singles, collaborations and awards
Justice wins a Grammy Award in 2009 for its remix of MGMT’s “Electric Feel” in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category. Their album Woman Worldwide wins the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. The single “Neverender”, featuring Tame Impala, wins Best Electronic/Dance Recording. The duo also collaborates with The Weeknd on “Wake Me Up”, which opens his sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Label history
In 2009, the group is announced as moving to WMG/Atlantic’s relaunched Elektra Records label.
