Just Kiddin

Just Kiddin is a Canadian children’s artist group from Manitoba, Canada. It consists of Lewis and Laurie, who grow up together and later work as a duo. Their background includes a musical and DJ focus, with Laurie playing drums and Lewis playing guitar.

The group’s sound draws on house and electronic production, with a style built around simple grooves and layered, melodic arrangements. They are described as placing no limits on their sound and as creating multi-dimensional music.

Releases and early profile

Just Kiddin make their introduction in 2013 with the Intimacy EP on Nurvous Records. The release is premiered by XLR8R and receives online support from sites including Do You Like That Sound and Gotta Dance Dirty. Their follow-up, Time, Space & Honey, comes out on HK Records, the underground imprint of Ministry of Sound, and gains coverage from Clash, Noisey, Sub Soul, Topman CTRL and Eton Messy.

They also appear on Black Butter Records’ Spread Love Vol. 3 compilation and release the free download Feeling Better on Eton Messy Records. Another track, Thinking About It, is featured as the opening track on The Magician’s Magic Tape 41 and appears anonymously on Soundcloud channel #Unknown before attracting attention online.

Remixes, radio support and live activity

Just Kiddin’s breakthrough comes with their remix of Claptone’s No Eyes on Exploited Records. The remix is premiered by Mixmag, placed at number four in the publication’s Top 10 Exclusive Downloads of 2013, and gathers millions of views on The Sound You Need. Their original track Feeling Better receives support from Rob Da Bank on BBC Radio 1, as well as B. Traits, Monki and Phil & Alice.

They also receive support from Duke Dumont, Tensnake, Gorgon City and The Magician, and begin playing shows around the UK with acts including Bohdi, Second City, Leftwing & Kody, and Cause & Effect. Their club sets are noted for charisma, energy and careful tune selection.
