Junkie Kid

Junkie Kid is a Mexican musician, DJ and producer from Acapulco. He spends part of his early life in Spain, where he is exposed to dance music through DJs including Mauro Picotto, DJ Quicksilver and DJ Sammy. He begins producing his own tracks at 16, working across techno, trance, hardstyle, house and Dutch house before developing a personal style he calls “Neo-Hard House”.

Career

He first gains wider attention with the track “Perfect”, which combines hardstyle, house and dark melodies and helps define his Neo-Hard House sound. In 2013 he signs his first EP, Check This EP, to Audiophile Live Records, a label based in Los Angeles. The track “Claps Up” brings him support from DJs around the world.

As his profile grows, he works on collaborations with Sandro Silva on “Miraj” and with Carnage on “Krakatoa”. He also signs music to Spinnin Records, Musica Freedom and Mixmash Records. He reaches the Beatport top 10 twice and receives support from artists including Tiësto, Hardwell, David Guetta, Afrojack, Sander Van Doorn, Nicky Romero, Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tommy Trash, Benny Benassi and W&W.

Live activity and style

Junkie Kid shares a stage with Carnage at Ultra Music Festival 2014 in Miami. His output remains centred on his Neo-Hard House approach, combining hardstyle energy with house and darker melodic elements.
