Juniore
Juniore is a Paris, France-based group active since 2013. The band is led by Anna Jean, who is joined by four other female musicians. Jean is the daughter of French writer JMG Le Clézio, and before Juniore she sings on tracks by Parisian electro acts including Jackson, Jérôme “Tacteel” Echenoz and Bot’Ox.
Style and sound
The group’s music combines surf, psychedelia, sixties Yé-Yé pop and space age influences. Their recordings are produced by Samy Osta, who has also worked with Rover, La Femme and Louis Chedid. Anna Jean’s voice is described as having a 1960s feel, with comparisons to Nico and Françoise Hardy, and her lyrics often focus on sleeplessness, restlessness and the end of love.
Releases
Juniore’s debut album is Ouh Là Là, released in 2017. The group follows it with the mini-album Magnifique in 2018.
