Juls is the performing name of Julian Nicco-Annan, an Afrobeat producer and DJ from Hackney, London, and raised in England and Accra, Ghana. He is associated with afrobeats and works under the Lost Ones label. He is also linked with BeCool.

He cites hip-hop producers including J Dilla and Swizz Beatz as influences, and develops a stripped-back but detailed hybrid afrobeats sound. His production credits include work for Show Dem Camp, Stonebwoy, Mr Eazi, Kojey Radical, Maleek Berry, Nonso Amadi, Eugy, Not3s and Kojo Funds.

Career

Juls becomes more deeply involved in beatmaking in the early 2010s, after a period of casual interest. As his production work gains attention, he begins releasing his own singles, including Teef Teef, With You and Give You Love in 2016.

His debut album, Leap of Faith, follows in 2017. Other notable collaborations include Mr Eazi on Skin Tight, one of his best-known productions, as well as Kojey Radical on Temperature Rising, Maleek Berry and Nonso Amadi on Early, and Eugy, Not3s and Kojo Funds on Bad.

In 2019 he releases the single Maayaa, and later the Colour project, which includes collaborations with artists such as Sweetie Irie, Sway Clarke and Kida Kudz.
