Julien Chang

Julien Chang is a singer, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore. His music draws on jazz, indie-pop, classical music, psychedelic rock, funk and electronic music.

He is a musical autodidact who develops his work through years of practice and performance. He plays piano, synthesizer, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical guitar, electric bass, drum kit, jazz trombone, classical trombone, ukulele, congas and vocals, and he combines these instruments in his recordings and performances.

Chang studies music at the Baltimore School for the Arts. In 2017, he performs for the Department of Education’s annual national Jazz Informance with jazz trombonist Terell Stafford. He also builds a small recording studio in his basement and begins work on his debut album, Jules, which he writes, composes, performs, records and produces entirely at home in Baltimore.
