Jubei is a drum and bass producer from the United Kingdom, associated with the London scene. He is also a member of Code 3, alongside SP:MC and Dakuan, and his work appears on Carbon Music.
Music and collaborations
Jubei’s output includes solo productions and a series of collaborations with other drum and bass artists, including Breakage, Phobia, Icicle, Cern, SPY, Lenzman, Logistics, Sabre and Fierce. His music is widely used by leading drum and bass DJs.
His release history begins with Emcee Recordings, where MC GQ issues his 2006 debut Still There. He also works with Breakage on Harvester, and later co-writes The Struggle with Sabre for Breakage and Equinox’s Scientific Wax.
After moving to Newcastle, he develops a close working relationship with Phobia, leading to multiple releases for Renegade Hardware and to the launch of Coded Music. The first Coded Music release is Guillotine, which features a Breakage remix. Jubei also signs a debut EP and a series of singles to Metalheadz, and has further releases planned for Shogun Audio, 31 Records, Exit and Critical Music, as well as more material for Coded Music and Metalheadz.
DJ work and other activity
As a DJ, Jubei is a resident at Turbulence in Newcastle. He also plays at events and venues including Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware and Fabric in London, Dissident in Bristol, StarWarz in Ghent, and in Japan.
He also works as an engineer on Goldie’s orchestral piece Sine Tempus for the BBC Proms and Classic Goldie TV show.
