Juanita Stein is a Melbourne-born singer and guitarist best known as the lead singer and guitar player of Howling Bells. She is also a member of Waikiki.
Background
She is born in Melbourne and grows up in Sydney in a musical, bohemian family. Her mother, Linda Stein, is a former stage and television actress, and her father, Peter Stein, is a respected musician who writes songs for artists including The Blind Boys Of Alabama and other country and gospel performers. He also writes one of the tracks on Howling Bells’ first record, I’m Not Afraid.
Stein describes an upbringing surrounded by music of many kinds, including 1960s and 1970s rock, soul, jazz, world music, pop, folk, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. She later completes a Bachelor of Arts at a university in Sydney, majoring in Literature, and also excels in Theatre Performance and an electronic music course, Cubase101.
Career
Stein fronts Howling Bells and plays guitar in the group. After Howling Bells cease activity in 2014, she pursues a solo career.

She says music, art, fashion and film are her main passions.
