Joyce Sims

Joyce Sims was an American singer, composer and pianist from Rochester, United States. Her work spans contemporary R&B, dance, freestyle, funk, Minneapolis sound and Philly soul. She is known for her 1980s club records and for songs that move between dance music and soul balladry.

Career

Her best-known song is “Come Into My Life”, a soul and dance ballad that becomes a worldwide top ten hit in 1988. Her debut album is mostly mixed and produced by Kurtis Mantronik of hip hop group Mantronix. Sims writes every song on that album apart from “Love Makes A Woman”.

After that release, she issues “Who’s Crying Now” on Warlock Records in 1994 and continues to tour. Her second album, A New Beginning, appears in 2006 and includes the singles “What The World Needs Now” and “Praise His Name”.

Later releases

In 2009, Sims releases “Wishing You Were Here” on her own imprint, August Rose Records. A third album, Back In Love Again, is announced as following.
