Joy Ellis

Joy Ellis is a London-based jazz pianist, singer and composer from the United Kingdom. She performs both as a pianist and vocalist, and her work also includes composition.

Education and early recognition

She completes a Masters in Jazz Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating in 2008. In 2012, she wins first prize at the National BASBWE Festival for a composition for concert wind band.

Performance career

Ellis performs in the UK and internationally. In London, she appears at venues including Ronnie Scott's, the Barbican Pit Theatre and the Savoy Hotel.

Collaborations and reception

She performs with a range of musicians on the UK scene, including Omar Lye-Fook, Anita Wardell and Nikki Iles. British composer Philip Sparke describes her as a composer with an original voice and the means to express it.
