Jovonn

Jovonn is a house music producer, DJ and record label owner from Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. He works in house and deep house, and is associated with dance and electronic music.

Career

Jovonn returns to the dance scene after a brief hiatus, and he is known for combining gritty sounds, hard kicks, heavy bass lines and jazzy chords. He has worked for more than a decade in dance music in several roles, including singer, songwriter, musician, producer, DJ and label owner.

He first appears on Warner Bros. Records with “Turn and Runaway” in 1991, his second release, which reaches number 10 on the Billboard chart. His discography includes “Love So Special” by Ceybil Jeffries, on which he sings background vocals, as well as “Step Into My Life” by Valerie Johnson, “Flutes” and “Be Free”.

Labels and projects

Jovonn founds Goldtone Records in the early 1990s. He later runs NextMoov Records and NextMoov Traxx, labels dedicated to deep, soulful underground dance music. He is also associated with the Joint Movement Project and Body 'N Deep.
