Journey Home

Journey Home is a modern praise and worship band from East Texas. The group performs original material written by worship leader and songwriter Shelley Green. The members have played together on and off since 1999, and the band formally comes together in 2006 after being asked to lead worship for a summer youth camp.

Background and activity

Since forming, Journey Home has led worship for churches, youth crusades and other events. The band’s stated aim is to encourage worship across the Christian church and to introduce new songs for congregational use. Five of the six members are worship leaders in their own churches, while the remaining member plays in his church worship team as a musician.

Line-up

The group consists of Shelley Green on lead vocals and keyboard, Nicole Brooks on background vocals, Caleb Mabry on drums, James Valenzuela on bass, Tommy Green on acoustic guitar and Craig Yeager on electric guitar.

Reception

Andy Tyndall of Cross Systems describes the band as ministry-focused and notes that their music presents biblical text in a style intended both to energise listeners and to lead them into worship.
