Josh Caffe

Josh Caffe is a London DJ, producer and vocalist associated with Out of Eden. He works in electronic music, with a sound that spans EDM, house and techno, and his sets also draw on old school Baltimore beats, twisted disco, baile, jackin house and electro.

Background

Born in London, Josh Toko also uses the name J.O.S.H Caffe. He has been DJing for four years and, for two of those years, performs as part of the East London DJ duo Caffe Latte. The duo builds a following through regular sets in London and Madrid, with Ivan Latte continuing to perform in Spain.

DJ work and residencies

Caffe Latte begins with a one-off booking at the Red Lion, Hoxton, which develops into a weekly residency. The pair then play Mish Mash sets before taking on regular dates at Trailer Trash at On the Rocks, followed by residencies at Mother Bar and WISH. They also appear at the 2007 Eurostar iPod Battle in Paris and at 1234 Festival.

As J.O.S.H Caffe, he continues to play independently at venues and events including Dalston Superstore, Bathhouse, Catch 22, the Griffin, London Fashion Week and Offset Festival.

Events and collaborations

He creates and runs the night Double Up!, held at venues across London. That project includes collaborations with Girlcore, Caligula and Arthur 8.

Style and influences

Caffe’s sets are shaped by the underground club scenes of late-1980s Chicago and New York, and he works across club styles built for dance floors.
