Josh Butler

Josh Butler is a British DJ and producer from the United Kingdom, working in house music and associated styles including tech house and minimal. He emerges in the early 2010s with his debut track “Got A Feeling” in 2013, which brings him wider attention.

Releases and labels

He releases music on a range of house and techno imprints, including Roush, Cajual, Madtech, Avotre, VIVa and Noir. His EPs also appear on Rejected, Defected, Poker Flat, Kaoz Theory and 8Bit. He remixes tracks for Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Joris Voorn.

Recognition and touring

Butler receives multiple industry awards from Beatport and DJ Mag. He tours extensively across the globe, with numerous Ibiza residencies and appearances at festivals and events including Glastonbury, SW4, Defected Croatia, Parklife and Secret Garden Party. He also plays multiple tours across Europe, the US and Australia.

Collaborations and key tracks

His collaboration with Bontan, “Call You Back”, reaches number one on Beatport for a second time in early 2017. He also warms up for Nile Rodgers and Chic.

ORIGINS RCRDS

In late 2016, Butler launches his label ORIGINS RCRDS. The imprint pairs established house figures such as Marshall Jefferson, Todd Terry and Robert Owens with newer artists, and later releases material by Kerri Chandler, Groove Armada, Richy Ahmed and Huxley. The label also hosts showcases in cities including London and Los Angeles.

2018 activity

In 2018, Butler appears on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix series, makes a One Mix for Apple Music’s Beats 1, and releases his Hot Creations debut, “Doesn’t Work”. His Ibiza appearances that season include Do Not Sleep at Amnesia, Solid Grooves at Privilege and Paradise’s closing party at DC-10. He also performs at Nocturnal Wonderland, Paradise at Brooklyn Mirage, FNGRS CRSSD and during Miami Music Week.
