Josephine Sillars

Josephine Sillars is a singer-songwriter from the Highlands in the United Kingdom, now based in Glasgow. She performs original music and has been active since the age of fifteen.

Career

She first gains wider attention after supporting Carol Laula on tour in 2010. From there, she builds a live career across Scotland, appearing at Belladrum, Oran Mor, Nice N Sleazy, Broadcast, The Ironworks, The Alhambra Theatre and the Scottish Story Telling Centre, as well as at Hootananny’s in London.

In 2013, she supports Scott Cowie on his Scottish tour and contributes music to the Fringe production Gorbella. In 2014, she works with the Glasgow web series Cops and Monsters, writing promotional material and contributing tracks used throughout the series. That same year, she performs in Amsterdam and at Sandvikfest in Sweden, and tours the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in association with National Collective. She also plays a series of Edinburgh Fringe dates with Free Fringe.

Releases and media attention

Her debut EP is scheduled for release in 2015. Her single February Has A Smoking Problem receives attention from podcasts, blogs and BBC Radio Scotland.

Live work

Sillars continues to gig around Glasgow and the central belt of Scotland, with a live profile that spans festivals, theatres, clubs and arts events.
