Josephine Oniyama

Josephine Oniyama is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist from Manchester, England. Her work sits within soul, and she first appears on record with the track “Closer” on In The City: Unsigned 2006. Her first dedicated release is the EP In The Labyrinth, issued in 2008 on Island.

Recording career

Oniyama follows her debut EP with Portrait in 2012, a release that receives a positive critical response. In the mid-2010s she works with other artists, including Travis, with whom she records “Idlewild”, and jazz producer and trumpeter Matthew Halsall, for whose album Into Forever she co-writes three songs. She later writes and records a new EP and album titled Human.

Other work

While working on Human, Oniyama earns an MA in English and becomes a mother.
