Jose Zaragoza is a DJ associated with the underground house music scene in Chicago. He has been active for over 18 years and is known for an energetic style that combines up-tempo disco, filter funky house, soulful Latin-flavoured house and elements of techno.

Career

Zaragoza builds his reputation through both DJing and promotion. He holds a monthly residency at SmartBar in his hometown of Chicago and also runs a monthly event there. His work brings him bookings in the United States and abroad.

He wins Mixer Magazine’s Mix Tape Contest in 2000, which gives him wider exposure and leads to opportunities to play internationally. His mixes go on to receive coverage in a range of magazines and publications in Canada, Europe and the United States, including Klublife Magazine, Tribe, Nocturnal, Ottawa Xpress, The Coast Newspaper, M8, International DJ, Muzik Magazine, Mixer, BPM, URB, 5 Magazine and Red Eye.

International performances

Zaragoza performs across the USA and in Canada, including Vancouver, Toronto, London, St. Catharines, Ottawa, Hamilton, Hull, Quebec City, Fredericton, St. John and Halifax. He also plays in Europe, including England, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and Switzerland, as well as in Melbourne and Dubai.
