Jono

Jono is an indie and acoustic artist from Exeter, UK. The music is noted for its similarity to Radiohead, and Jono also records a Radiohead covers album. The artist releases music through Nutmeg Records and has three albums and several EPs.

Swedish band JONO

JONO is also a Swedish band that begins as a solo project by singer and songwriter Johan Norrby, with the name derived from his initials. A record is made and released in 2006, involving some of the musicians who later form the band’s line-up, and the project continues as a full band from that point onward.

Norrby has a long background in singing, writing and playing in numerous bands and projects. Guitarist Stefan Helleblad is also a member of Within Temptation. Drummer Nicka Hellenberg plays all the drums on Within Temptation’s album The Unforgiving and also works across several other band settings and recordings. Keyboard player Johan Carlgren and bass player Janne Henriksson are both regularly hired for live and studio sessions, and Leo Olsson joins the band in 2015.

Style and releases

JONO’s sound is described as melodic hard rock with symphonic and progressive elements, built around strong melodies, bombastic arrangements, dynamics and a contemporary, heavy production style. The band is compared with Queen, Supertramp, Kansas, Journey and Sparks, while also drawing praise for its own sound and live performance.

After the independently released albums Requiem in 2013 and Silence in 2015, the band signs to Frontiers Records. Its first album for the label, Life, appears in 2017.
