Jon Byrne is a singer/songwriter and social commentator from the shipbuilding town of Barrow-in-Furness, UK, located on Cumbria’s most southerly tip. Jon readily admits that he has never been heavily influenced by music and takes most of his influence from film, books and comedy. Jon’s material contains ‘finger on the trigger’, zeitgeist, social commentary and well-scripted and honest songs of love and life that that takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, pulling at heartstrings and making the hair stand up on the backs of necks before slapping you around the face with stories of honest realism, social depravation and urban cataclysm.
His live performances have to be seen to be believed, with exuberant foot stomping, chaotic personality syndrome and wild, roaming eyes that tell a story all on their own. He is supported on stage by a very accomplished pair of musicians in, Bobby Kewley, Bass (The Christians) and Paul Tsanos, Drums (Pete Wylie, Ian McNabb).
Jon’s debut album, ‘It’s Boring Being in Control’ is released, on 6th April ’09, through Militant Entertainment, the label born out of Glastonbury’s legendary ‘Left Field’ Stage.
