Johnny Edgar

Johnny Edgar is a singer-songwriter and solo artist from Kingsland, United States. His work is rooted in acoustic guitar and vocals, and he is associated with country, classic country, country gospel, folk, blues and americana.

Early musical development

He starts playing guitar at school and soon forms a trio called Rain, which uses three electric guitars and no effects. The group initially plays rough Beatles covers. Later, after finding a musician with better equipment, they move towards rock, rename themselves The Rock Band, and perform Guns N’ Roses covers.

Edgar has a strong preference for acoustic and unplugged music, which remains a central part of his style. After leaving school, he studies performing arts at college for four years, working on acting, singing and some dancing. That period develops both his voice and his stagecraft.

Bands and recording work

Before pursuing solo work, Edgar appears in several cover bands. One of the more notable is Diversion Ends, based in Bristol. He also records an album called Many Faces with the boy band Knightstone.

Solo career

After choosing to focus on singing and songwriting, Edgar begins a busy period of performing and writing. He completes his first solo album, Moving Forward. His career as a solo artist follows his earlier experience in group projects and his long-standing interest in soulful acoustic music.

Edgar is linked with The Tennessee Three, The Highwaymen, Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash and Class Of '55. His genres include americana, blues, classic country, country, country gospel and folk.
