Johnny Drille

Johnny Drille is a Nigerian singer-songwriter from Edo. He is known for pop and alternative-influenced music and is associated with Mavin Records.

Career

Born John Ighodaro in 1990, he begins his musical career in church. In 2013, he appears as a contestant on the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa. Two years later, he releases a cover of Di'Ja's "Awww", which brings him to the attention of Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy.

His debut single, "Wait for Me", is released in 2015 and receives a nomination for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2016. He also collaborates with Niniola, another season six contestant, on "Start All Over".

Albums and label work

In February 2017, he signs a record deal with Mavin Records. His debut album, before we fall asleep, is released in 2021 as a fourteen-track project. The album features Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, the Lagos Community Choir, Don Jazzy, Chylde, Kwitte, Cilsoul and Sylplus.
