John Wizards

John Wizards is a group from Cape Town, South Africa, active since 2010. It works as a South African duo, with John Withers on music and Emmanuel Nzaramba on vocals, and is presented as drawing on the sound of a larger ensemble of seven virtuosos working across a range of traditional and electronic styles.

Its music is associated with shangaan electro and soukous, and it also sits within electronic, African, South African, ethnodelic and dub contexts. In live performance, the group has assistance from Geoff Brink, Tom Parker, John Withers, Alex Montgomery and Raphael Segerman.
